Question #1

Here is the first in what will be a series of topic questions from which we will start our conversation and get to know a little about ourselves.  The only request I have is that you have respect in your response.  Thanks.

1)  In your experience as a holistic health practitioner or as a patient/client receiving a holistic health service; what has been your greatest revelation?

Traumatic Release. Both as a therapist and a client. My table has been a safe container on several occasions for tears, screams, and spasmodic dreams.
Clients who feel comfort and trust can go deeper than superficial pain, and recurring injury to a sometimes hidden root which has grown symptoms. The same has been true for me as a client. I have dealt with light and darkness, pain and suffering, and athletic strains and sprains and herniated discs by letting go of the pain of the limitation and connecting my muscle to my memories and allowing them to release.

The realization of the body's complexity:
As a personal trainer I find myself spending most of my time trying to teach bodily and skeleto-muscular awareness. Watching this realization happen whether it be by pushing someone past where the thought possible or, by simply teaching control over a certain movement. The realization of the complexity and beauty of the combination of voluntary and involuntary actions that the body produces is an amazing thing to see.
As a patient receiving acupuncture for the first time (post knee surgery) and feeling the rush of chi through what I thought was going to be a dead part of my leg made me realize how truly complex and beautiful the body is.

As a client I have found the benefits to be better than almost every Medical service I have received. I unfortunately learned this the hard way buy being the test rat of a Doctor when I was a child who taught me that the term "Practicing" Medicine is to be taken literally. Our bodies are not a place for guessing and "Let's see what this will do"! As a result, I have been given the gift to see and experience that our bodies are truly amazing and will heal and repair almost anything if given the correct environment and specialist who knows how to guide it.
